Little Pig- FREE PATTERN

Materials:

6oz, 170g of Caron Simply Soft yarn. In soft pink. 

4- Us size 8 double-pointed knitting needles and 5 US size 5 double-pointed knitting needles.

7 1/2″ long, 3 1/2″ tall



Abbreviations:

K-knit

P-Purl

KFB- Knit in the front and back of a single stitch

K2together- knit two stitches together.

Cast on 9 stitches on a US size 8 double-pointed needle. Evenly distribute your stitches onto 3 needles. Place a stitch marker at the slip-knot. This is the beginning of your round.

Round 1- K

Round 2- K1, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle. Repeat to the end of the row.

Round 3- K

Round 4- K2, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle . Repeat the the end of the row.

Round 4- K

Round 5- K3, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle. Repeat to the end of the row.

Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the next round.

Round 6- K until the piece measures 1 inch.

Decreasing rounds.

Round 1- K2together around

Round 2 and 3- K

Round 4- K2, K2together to the end of the row.

Round 5- K

Increasing round-

Round 1- K2, KFB, k4 Repeat to the end of the row.

Round 2-K

Round 3-K2, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle. Repeat to the end of the row.

Round 4- K3, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle. Repeat to the end of the row.

Round 5- K

Round 6- K4, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle . Repeat to the end of the row.

Round 7- K

Round 8-  K5, KFB in each stitch to the end of the needle. Repeat to the end of the row.

Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the next round.

Round 9- K until the piece measures 1 inch.

Decreasing rounds:

Round 1- K5, K2together. Repeat to the end.

Round3-K

Round 4- K4, K2together. Repeat to the end.

Round 5- K

Round 6- K3, K2together. Repeat to the end.

Begin stuffing the head and body.

Round 7- K

Round 8- K2, K2together. Repeat to the end.

Round 9-K

Round 10- K1, K2together. Repeat to the end.

Round 11- K

Round 12- K2together around

Cut a tail about 7 inches long, thread onto a tapestry needle and weave through the remaining stitches. Pull the stitches closed and weave in the ends.

LEGS- Make 4- Refer to the pictures for placement of legs

(see last photo for an illustration on how to pick up stitches)

Using 4 size 5 double-pointed needles, pick up 3 stitches on each needle in a square.

Knit each round until the leg measures 1/2 inch.

Round 2- Purl.

Round 3- K2together, K- repeat to end of row.

Stuff with small amount of poly-fiber.

Cut a tail and thread it onto a tapestry needle. Weave tail through remaining stitches. Pull stitches closed and weave in the end.

Nose-

With 4 size 5 needles, pick up 4 stitches on each needle.

Round 1- K

Round 2-P

Stuff lightly with poly-fiber.

Round 3- K2together to the end of the row.

Cut a tail and thread it onto a tapestry needle. Weave tail through remaining stitches. Pull stitches closed and weave in the end.

Ears Make 2:

With a Size 5 double pointed knitting needle, pick up 6 stitches on top of the head. Refer to the pictures for ear placement.

Row 1- K

Row 2- P

Row 3- K2, K2together, K2

Row 4- P

Row 5- K2together, K1, K2together

Row 6- P

Row 7- K3together.

Cut tail and weave in ends.

Tail: 

With a size 5 double-pointed needle, pick up 3 stitches.

Knitting in I-cord, knit until the tail measures two inches.

Cut a long yarn tail. Twist the tail until you get the desired curly tail look, and secure the tail in curly position with the yarn end. Weave in remaining yarn.

Add eyes and a mouth if you wish!
