Materials:160 Yards of Superwash worsted yarn. Weight 100 grams. I used the Spud and Chloe yarn on the neck warmer in the photos. 55% Wool + 45% Organic Cotton.
Us size 8 knitting needles. (I love working on round needles, but straight needles would work just fine)Two medium size button
Tapestry needle for weaving
Measuring tape
stitch holder
Measurements:
20″ long and 4″ wide
Gauge:
4-5stitches per inch.
Abbreviations:
K- Knit
P- Purl
CO- Cast on
BO- Bind Off
M4- Make 4 stitches
C(2,3)F- Cable (2,3) stitches in the front of your work. Slip (2,3) stitches onto a stitch holder and hold them toward the front of your work. Knit the next (2,3) stitches, replace the slipped stitches back onto the left hand needle and knit.
C(2,3)B- Cable (2,3) stitches in the back of your work. Slip (2,3) stitches onto a stitch holder and hold them toward the back of your work. Knit the next (2,3) stitches, replace the slipped stitches back onto the left hand needle and knit.

I am trying to help a friend with this pattern, and our combined knitting experience is a bit frazzled now…
Row 11 is missing, though I assume that is a numbering problem rather than a pattern issue.
Also, I am not understanding the cabling rows. I have done cables… a lot… so I am not a novice. For example. After casting on 28 stitches, and knitting 1 row, leaving 28 stitches:
Row 2:
K2, P1, K1, BO 4, K1 P3 – Consumes 12 stitches
C2F – Consumes 4 stitches
K2, P3, K1, BO4, K1, P1, K2 – Consumes 14 stitches
By my count… that’s 30 stitches.
Now, I can solve that problem by using the k1 before the 4 bound off stitches as the first stitch to bo… thus only consuming 28… which works. And that may be what you intended… so moving on. At the end of this row, I should have 20 stitches on the needle.
Row three puts our count back to 28, with the make 4 in there twice.
Row 4 and 5 consume 28 stitches… we are on a roll!
But then we get to another cabling row:
Row 6: K2, P1 – that’s 3 stitches total.
C3B – this takes 6 stitches
K3, P3, K4 – There goes 10 more…
C3F – and another 6…
leaving only 3 stitches of our original 28… but wait! The pattern calls for SIX MORE!
K3, P1, K2
Now… on Ravelry, three folks have undertaken this pattern, and why not, it’s lovely! One commented that the cables were hard to wrap their brain around, but once they figured it out it was smooth sailing. The other two don’t seem to have any comments… So I am hoping that with your help, we can wrap our brains around it.

Just an odd question… could it be that you are writing a redundancy into your pattern?
Row 6: K2, P1, C3B, K3, P3, K4, C3F, K3, P1, K2
Where is the whole cable? In every pattern I have read the C3B implies the use of 6 stitches, but are you using it only to note the 3 stitches slipped to the holder?

ok help…. I’m very sure it’s just me… but when i do row 3 , and we have to M4. The first time matches up with the button hole, but the second one doesn’t. I have torn it out twice. What am I doing wrong?

Row 11 was an error. There isn’t missing steps, just a miscount of rows while writing the pattern. Sorry about that. Can you tell me where you are having trouble with the cables? I will do my best to walk you through it. 🙂
